A fourth defendant arrested in March in Altamont due to a drug investigation has pleaded guilty.

23-year-old Zakery Gentry of Effingham pleaded guilty to possession of under five grams of methamphetamine.  Gentry was one of several individuals arrested during a police call to an apartment on Main Street in Altamont on March 12.

In exchange for the guilty plea, a charge of possession of a larger quantity of meth was dismissed, but the guilty plea was still to a felony offense.

Gentry was placed on two years probation, including 102 days in Effingham County Jail.  He must complete 30 hours of public service work and was ordered to pay fines.
