Effingham firefighters were called to a structure fire at 508 West Franklin Avenue at 9:19 Monday night.
Effingham Fire Chief Brant Yochum said the fire was contained in the kitchen of the home, but did $10,000 in damage.
One occupant of the residence was taken to HSHS St. Anthony’s Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment of smoke inhalation.
