Election Day 2025 is Tuesday, April 1st.
Polls will be open from 6am to 7pm. Early Voting has been going on at the Effingham County Clerk's office for some time and will continue until Election Day.
The Effingham Unit 40 Board of Education has an unusual situation, in that those running didn't file before the deadline to get on the ballot, so they are running as write-ins. That includes Desha Wear and Erica Boone, currently on the Board, who are running for four-year terms, and Chad Thompson, currently on the board, who is running for an unexpired two-year term that is the result of a resignation. There is one other candidate, Brandon Duncan, who filed on time and who will be on the ballot. Duncan is not currently serving on the board. The fourth incumbent, Steve Bone, is not seeking re-election.
The Effingham Park Board has two seats to be filled, but no one filed before the deadline to get on the ballot. There are two incumbents; one of those, Mike Cunningham, is seeking re-election, but Angie Kronewitter is not seeking another term. Local resident Manny Wei has indicated that he is interested in serving on the Board. Following the election, the Park Board will appoint individuals to fill the open seats.
Here are those seeking election in other contests:
ALTAMONT--this is typically not an Election Day for the City of Altamont, but the remainder of the mayoral term will be filled by the winner Tuesday between Mike Walker, a city commissioner who has been Acting Mayor since Dan Milleville's resignation last year, along with Richard S. Finn and former city commissioner Todd Slingerland.
