Water Authority Updated on Beach Project

Effingham Water Authority trustees got an update on the plans for the beach and recreation complex at Lake Sara at this month's meeting.

Parks and Rec Committee Tom Ryan reported that they were present at the Lake Sara Marina Boat Show, and had the preliminary master plan for the complex available to view.

Ryan said there is a priority to remodel the bath house at the beach and have received quotes on improving air flow in the building. He also said they will be receiving dividers from the Gabby Goat when they complete construction of their new facility.

Trustees heard from Tracy Burton regarding changing the lot line between Lots 2 and 3 of John Kirby Subdivision. The change is due to a settlement agreement between two parties. Preliminary approval was granted to continue with the replat with final approval after the survey is completed.

The Board heard from Christo Schultz, who is interested in purchasing five lots in Town Hall Subdivision and wondered what is the process to make the acquisition. A Notice of Sealed Bid will need to be published three times in the paper and the lots will be appraised. Instructions for submitting sealed bids will be in the notice.

Noah Brandenburger told the trustees that the sale of Lakeside Marina has been cancelled. At this time, the restaurant will remain closed. Brandenburger also asked for clarification of a paragraph in the lease regarding building a pernanent residence. The residence would be for the operator of the Marina and would be considered part of the Marina property.

Trustees heard from attorney Kyle Boose that their company is working on a Short Term Rental Ordinance amendment and will have something to review in the near future. They also responded to a letter from the Illinois Department of Labor regarding the Pearson Peninsula, and said they are reviewing the Sportsman's Club lease regarding an option to renew.
