Altamont school board members Monday discussed architect and construction options for a possible addition to Altamont Grade School. Also discussed was work on the Altamont Community High School parking lot.
The Board also discussed financing options for the capital projects at both the grade school and the high school, and heard from Stephen Adams of PMA Securities on funding options for building projects.
Nothing was finalized at Monday's meeting.
The Board accepted the resignation of Craig Carr as girls varsity basketball coach, the resignation of Maria Bushur as junior high ELA teacher as of the end of the school year and the resignation of Jared Stuckemeyer as Technology Director effective June 30. The Board employed Tamara Norris as high school ELA teacher, and accepted the retirement of Toni Niebrugge effective at the end of the 27-28 school year.
Altamont board members approved the calendar for the coming school year with Thursday, August 14 as the first student attendance day, and increased substitute teacher pay to $125 per day. The Board authorized Superintendent Casey Adam to start work on the budget for the coming fiscal year; renewed a three-year contract with Bushue Human Resources for human resources, risk management and insurance consulting services; discussed seeking bids for a new bus, but then tabled the matter; purchased US History, World History, Spanish, and Civics materials; approved handbook updates including athletics and student handbooks; and pledged $50,000 to the City of Altamont for a grant proposal the City is pursuing for improvements to Gilbert Park.
