Inmate Found Dead in Richland County Jail

An inmate was found dead in the Richland County Jail in Olney early Wednesday morning.

62-year-old Donald Pollock was found unresponsive in his cell at 5:55am. Correctional staff said Pollock was unconscious and not breathing. 

Pollock had been booked into the jail Tuesday evening on low-level firearms and drug-related charges.

Illinois State Police were contacted and will conduct an independent investigation into the circumstances surrounding Pollock's death. The Richland County Coroner's Office will perform an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
