(MITCHELL MARTIN AND SHANE SMITH)

It was time for a little high school basketball reminiscing at the Effingham Noon Rotary meeting on January 29.

Windsor/Stew-Stras Hatchets Coach Shane Smith was the guest speaker. Smith shared about his years as coach, but also the history of the WSS program. There was also some sharing of the history of the Stew-Stras Comets, a team that made two trips to the state tournament under legendary Monty Nohren.

Mitchell Martin, himself a coach, served as Rotary weekly program chairman.

There were two student guests, both seniors at Effingham High School.

(HADDIE HILL AND MORGAN CEKANDER)

Haddie Hill is the daughter of Beth Reynolds and Jeff Hill. Hill plans to attend Illinois State University and study Deaf Education. She said she will most likely end up in a deaf community or larger schools with deaf outreach and culture.

Morgan Cekander is the daughter of Matt and Amber Cekander. Cekander plans to attend the University of Alabama to major in Accounting and minor in Spanish, and join the marching band. She wants to get her CPA license and work in a city close to Effingham.
