Mattoon Home Left Uninhabitable After Overnight Fire

A house in Mattoon was left uninhabitable after an overnight fire.
Mattoon firefighters were called at 11:10pm Tuesday to 201 Piatt Avenue East. Firefighters arrived to fire heavy fire coming from a garage, the residence, and three vehicles in the driveway. All occupants had exited the residence safely.
The fire was under control within 45 minutes. The cause is still being determined. All units cleared the scene shortly after 2:30am today.
The occupants are receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
Mattoon firefighters were assisted by Coles/Moultrie 911, Mattoon Police Department, Charleston Fire Department, Mattoon public works, Ameren gas and electric, and Red Cross.
