State Fair Convention Begins Today in Springfield

The 2025 Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Convention begins today in Springfield.

One of the highlights is the Miss Illinois County Fair Queen Pageant. Among the contestants is 2024 Miss Effingham County Fair Queen Kyandra Zerrusen. Kyandra is the daughter of Tasha and Matt Verdeyen and Nate and Marcy Zerrusen.

Whoever is crowned Miss Illinois County Fair Queen for 2025 on Sunday night will reign over the 2025 Illinois County Fair and DuQuoin State Fair.

The weekend also features the top finishers in talent competition at county fairs during 2024, with the winners getting to perform at the state fairs.

The convention is also an opportunity for fair board members to begin talks with potential performers at this year's fair.
