South Central Board Reviews Test Scores

South Central school board members heard that reading and math test scores improved at all three district buildings last year.
The high school and grade school earned Recognition status. The middle school is still on the target list due to a need for improvement of some subgroups. South Central Superintendent Kerry Herdes said they are continuing to improve their scores.
Board members approved the tax levy, including a 4.99% increase over what was actually extended for taxes last year. The tax rate, due to increased EAV, is still expected to drop from $4.56 to $4.39. Also approved was a $2 million working cash bond.
The Board approved an e-learning day plan. Five non-attendance days will be utilized as e-learning days. The old greenhouse at the high school was sold to Tasha Skibinski for $101.
In personnel items, the South Central board hired Jeremy Chasteen as a paid high school softball coach; approved Brandt Hiestand an an unpaid volunteer high school boys basketball coach; and approved Danielle Chasteen as an unpaid vounteer middle school volleyball coach.
