Altamont city council members Monday approved an amended appropriations ordinance for the new fiscal year. The measure totals $7,255,674.

The Council also approved the fiscal year tax levy seeking a total of $278,000, a 4.17% increase over last year.

The annual abatement ordinance was also passed. The levy was abated since the City's water bonds earned enough in interest to make the bond payment.

The Council approved TIF redevelopment plan with the Whistle Stop for new flooring. The project costs $9,631 with the City paying 50% of the cost up to $4,800.

Council members also paid S&K Concrete for foundation and flooring work for the Schmidt Park restroom in the amount of $10,000.

Altamont city officials also discussed the premiere of WEIU-TV's latest production, "Spotlight on Altamont". The program will air on Eastern Illinois University's television station at 7pm Wednesday.
