Dieterich School Board Supports Illinois Vision 2030

Dieterich school board members Monday adopted a resolution in support of Illinois Vision 2030.

Vision 2030 is a statewide collaborative process developed in the words of Dieterich Superintendent Cary Jackson to "promote future-focused learning, shared accountability, and predictable funding." 

Jackson said the intiative plans to advance policy, legislative and fiscal solutions, leverage public resources, and preserve local flexibility and leadership so that the most important decisions about curriculum and finances are made at the local level.

Casey Adam from Altamont and Cary Jackson from Dieterich served as Vision 2030 committee members.

Also Monday, the Dieterich board approved the fiscal year tax levy; renewed its membership in the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce; hired Carsen Funneman as junior high Scholar Bowl coach for this school year; approved David Meyer as a student teacher for Spring 2025 semester; and approved a proposal from GoGuardian for student device monitoring software.

The Dieterich board discussed Artificial Intelligence and possible opportunities and obstacles for school districts. No formal action was taken at this time. Jackson said the District will continue to research the subject in order to develop what he termed "meaningful policy that can protect and benefit students and staff.
