Altamont School Board Passes Levy for Coming Year

Altamont school board members Monday passed a tax levy expecting a 10% increase in equalized assessed valuation from the previous year.

Altamont Superintendent Casey Adam reported on the status of the Curriculum Committee's work to find updated materials for high school Spanish, Social Sciences and 5th grade Science this year, in addition to the high school course catalog. 

Adam also reported on the November food service report and the status of the food service requests for proposals and on Vision 2030. Board members reported on the State Convention held in November. Dale Laue shared coverage of the Delegate Assembly Committee meeting, Alonzo Shoaf discussed a session regarding social media and about how videos reach more people, Chris Guse shared about some roundtable discussions he sat in on regarding school board, superintendent and community relations, and Derek Bowman shared what he learned regarding the influx of non-English speaking students that are moving into Illinois.

In action items, the Altamont board voted to employ Erica Foltz as high school girls track coach, authorized Superintendent Adam to place three used vehicles out for sealed bids, approved leave for an employee, approved overnight trips for the FFA chapter and the girls basketball team, and passed a resolution to support Vision 2030.
