Effingham Water Authority trustees are dealing with the departure of long-time Water Authority attorney Tony Siemer.
Siemer notified the board at their November meeting that he is planning to retire at the end of the year. Meanwhile, Pam Apke and Kyle Boose of the Law Group will be representing the Water Authority. Boose was on hand for the meeting and told Board members that they currently have 10 attorneys and may use any of them depending on the area of expertise that is needed.
The Water Authority also heard from Tom Ryan of the Parks and Rec Committee on the financial status of the beach renovation project. Ryan said the final $200,000 from the State has been received and Lake Sara Forever should make a payment of $60,000 by the end of the year. Ryan also shared with the Board about the overall project and what plans they are currently working on.
Bob Einhorn of the Clean Water Committee addressed the Board regarding what their committee has been doing, including making education material available through Friends of Lake Sara. Einhorn stressed that the use of chlorine tablets in the septic system is needed on a regular basis.
Also, Doug Thies of the Friends of Lake Sara will be ending his service at the end of the year. He introduced Donna Salvage who will be taking Thies' place.
