Jasper County officials are deciding whether to adopt a new county flag.

Five designs have been selected along with the current flag. An online/in-person public survey is underway and will continue until January 3. The county's flag design commission will report to the County Board at their January or February meeting, and members will then vote to adopt a new flag or to retain the current flag design.

The Board adopted a budget for the coming fiscal year. The measure calls for about $175,000 more in income than in expenditures.

Board members heard that November voter turnout in Jasper County was 79.86%, and thanked Adam Deckard and Ben Bollman for their service to the Board as their terms were ending.

At their reorganizational meeting, Jasper board members re-elected Jason Warfel as Board Chairman and Ronald Heltsley as Vice-Chairman for the coming term.

Also at the meeting, newly-elected board members Austin Francis, Jessica Schackmann and Eric Spilker were sworn in to new terms.

Warfel also congratulated Circuit Clerk Jamie Blake, State's Attorney James Treccia, County Coroner Jason Meyer and Supervisor of Assessments Tom Matson, all of whom were elected to new terms.
