The Effingham County Chamber of Commerce recognized Wente Plumbing, Heating & Fire Protection as the July Chamber Member of the Month at an award presentation at the Chamber’s First Friday Luncheon.
The family-owned business is now owned and managed by Mike and Pat Wente and supported by their staff of 22. They relocated from their downtown Effingham building to a new office, warehouse and fabrication facility at 1700 South Raney Street in the Effingham industrial park in 1999.
The company has three divisions – Service & Repair handles small residential and commercial repairs in and around Effingham; the Plumbing & Piping Division focuses on commercial and industrial plumbing and pipe fitting work, and the Fire Sprinkler Division installs water-based fire suppression systems.
In that regard, the Wente Team is actively involved in various trade associations, with Mike having served as President of the Associated Builders and Contractors of Illinois in 2012 and Pat as a member of the ABCI Legislative Committee. Mike also serves as President of Lake Sara Water Cooperative and the Holland Reginal Water System and is a member of the Board of Directors of the Effingham County Economic Development Foundation.
The company provides plumbing services to many Habitat for Humanity homes in the county and provides donations to many local charities.
Wente Plumbing, Heating and Fire Protection is a 25 year member of the Chamber and strongly supports the Chamber Community Scholarship Program.
As a recipient of the Member of the Month award, businesses receive a framed certificate for permanent display and will be recognized at the Chamber’s 2014 Annual Banquet. In addition, each recipient of the award is entitled to a link to its website from the Chamber’s home page, www.effinghamchamber.org
