Teutopolis Village Board members Wednesday awarded a bid for street surfacing work at two locations.

Effingham Asphalt was awarded a contract for $159,698.20 to resurface Race Street from Route 40 south across the CSX Railroad tracks to Elm Street, and to resurface the portion of Walnut Street in the east part of the village that has never been resurfaced.

Village board members passed an appropriations ordinance for the fiscal year that began May 1 totaling $6,417,400.  The ordinance is higher than in recent years since it includes $1.6 million for the bonding expected to finance construction of a water transmission line from the village to Newton.

The Board awarded work to Dan Borries Painting for $1,525 to paint the exterior of the Teutopolis Village Hall.

Board members also heard from Jennifer Moore of Effingham County Public Transit about the services being offered.  Moore's major point was that the transportation is available to all individuals of all ages, not just senior citizens.
