Neoga school officials this month discussed a change in state law that will allow P-TELL districts like the Neoga district to levy for health and life safety improvement projects.

The change will allow levying for things like fire rated doors, HVAC, roof work, electrical improvements, tuckpointing and asbestos abatement. Representatives from the district's architects, Upchurch, met with school board members on how the improvements could be pursued.

Neoga Superintendent Kevin Haarman said the matter will be revisited at next month's meeting.

The Neoga board approved a four-year contract agreement with members of the Neoga Teachers Association. Percentage increases of 5.5%, 4.5%, 4% and 4% were part of the agreement, which will cover the new school year and the following three years.

In personnel matters, the Neoga board hired Mason Wills as high school fresh/soph basketball coach, Ryan Whitaker as junior high Scholar Bowl coach, and James Ballinger as junior high assistant baseball coach.
