The 2013 Effingham County Relay for Life will be held tonight into Saturday morning to benefit the battle against cancer. Relay teams will be on the grounds with a wide variety of food, games and merchandise, all benefitting the Fight Against Cancer. We'll be there as well, selling Culver's Frozen Custard from our Premier Broadcasting tent. The event will be held on the grounds at Teutopolis Junior High School, and we've embedded a map to the school below. Here's this year's schedule for events:

4:00      M.C. Welcome; Grounds open and team fundraising begins; Youth games begin in the center track

4:30     Team Captain huddle at the main stage; 100th Birthday Picture (this is the 100th birthday of the American Cancer Society)

5:00     Accounting opens

5:15     Cayla’s Power Tumbling Performance

5:50     Hush Angels travel the grounds to prepare for Opening Ceremony

6:00     Opening Ceremony begins; Invocation by Tyler Sterchi; Kickoff speech by Ron Mietzner and Alecia Luebbe; National Anthem performed by Kelsey Beard; Presenting of the colors by Effingham VFW Post #1769 and VFW Ladies Auxillary Post #1769; Big Flag presented by Effingham Elks Lodge #1016 along with American Legion Post #120; Welcome from Teutopolis Mayor Greg Hess; Survivor Speaker – LeAnn Schroeder; Closing comments by Ron Mietzner

6:40    Specialty Laps Begin; Survivor Lap (With Light of Hope); Caregiver Lap; Team Laps – in order as announced

6:50    Pageant line up by main stage

6:55    1st Silent Auction begins

7:00    Little Miss/Junior Miss Pageant (Each contestant is announced with a brief bio); Pageant winners crowned

7:30    Fight Back Ceremony (Fight Back Speaker – Dr. Boyajian)

8:00    Kesley Beard Performance on Main Stage

8:15   1st Silent Auction Ends

8:30   Bark for Life Announcements

8:35   Hush Angels roam the grounds to prepare for Luminaria Ceremony

9:00   Luminaria Ceremony Speaker; Reading of the names; Silent Lap led by Bagpiper Paul Hinson

9:45  2nd Silent Auction Begins; 100th Birthday Celebration Lap

10:00 Andy Rueter Performance

11:00 Frozen T-shirt Contest
