Area accountant Richard West has been recognized by East Central Illinois Development Corporation for his service to ECIDC.
West has ended service to the agency after 27 years as ECIDC Treasurer. He was honored during a meeting this week at the West and Company office in Mattoon.
CPA John Vogt who is a partner with West and Company has accepted the role as ECIDC's new treasurer. West and Company, a full service accounting firm, has offices located in Mattoon, Effingham, Sullivan, Greenville and Edwardsville. West works in the Mattoon office while Vogt is based in the Effingham office.
ECIDC was incorporated in 1984 and is one of the longest-running regional economic development groups in the state. West credited five original supporters of ECIDC for its creation and on-going support: Lake Land College, Eastern Illinois University, Consolidated Communications, Ameren and First Mid-Illinois Bank and Trust. He also credited past Lake Land College president Dr. Robert Webb with the original idea of forming a regional development entity. According to West, "ECIDC would not have survived without Lake Land College's support."
