It will cost 2% more for incoming freshmen and current graduate students to attend Northern Illinois University.

University trustees approved the increase, which will bring the cost of tuition for an in-state freshman to about $9,100, not including fees, room and board.  Under state law, the tuition will remain the same for the four years of an undergraduate's attendance.

Graduate student tuition rises to $342 a credit hour; law students will pay $651 per credit hour.
