A Cowden woman was killed in a crash outside Pana Wednesday afternoon.

57-year-old Carol Dilley was the passenger on a motorcycle involved in a crash with a semi at 2pm on Illinois 16, east of US 51 east of Pana.

State police say both vehicles were westbound and the cycle, operated by 57-year-old Charles Dilley of Cowden, was slowing to turn into a parking lot when it was struck from behind by the semi, driven by 34-year-old Tha Yang of Eucha, Oklahoma.

Both Charles and Carol Dilley were thrown off the cycle.  Both were taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield where Carol Dilley was pronounced dead.  Charles Dilley was treated for what were termed "non-life threatening injuries".

Yang, the semi driver, was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash.
