It's not a good idea to get behind the wheel of a boat after you've been drinking, especially if new legislation increasing the penalties for such an offense is signed into law.

A bill sitting on Governor Quinn's desk would give authorities the right to suspend someone's driver' license if they're busted for being under the influence of drugs or alcohol while boating.  A first-time offender who refuses to take a sobriety test could lose their license for a year and those who take the test, but show intoxication, could lose their license for six months.

Governon Quinn has until the end of July to decide whether to sign the bill.
