The Illinois Department of Transportation says that as early as Monday, weather permitting, southbound I-57 and westbound I-70 through Effingham will be put back to a more normal ramp pattern.

Keller Drive and Fayette Avenue will have exit and entrance ramps opened up and the use of the current collector lane and detours will be discontinued. The ramps will utilize some temporary pavement so that the permanent pavements can be placed without disrupting the future on and off ramp movements.

Similar changes will occur to northbound I-57 and eastbound I-70 in the future.

Also at this time, interstate closures are planned for the nights of June 5 and June 6 in order to set the steel beams for the pedestrian bridge between Keller Drive and Fayette Avenue. The full I-57/70 closures will occur on those nights between 11pm and 6am. Traffic will use a marked detour on Fayette Avenue and Keller Drive.

IDOT still urges that motorists use caution in around the construction area, and to be watchful for changing speed zones and workers.
