Fatal Mobile Home Fire in Fayette County

A man was found dead Friday in the remains of a mobile home following a fire.

Fayette County Coroner David Harris said the body is assumed to be that of 70-year-old Ronald F. Simmons of Bingham. 

Late Friday morning, Harris was dispatched to the fire scene near the Fayette County/Montgomery County line. When firefighters reached the scene, they were notified by a person that escaped the fire that another person was still inside. Once the fire was extinguished, a body believed to be that of Simmons was discovered. Harris pronounced the person dead at the scene.

An investigation continues into the incident by the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office and the Fayette County Coroner's Office.
