Effingham Man Arrested on Sex Charges

An Effingham man has been arrested on charges of sex offenses.

65-year-old Clarence R. Rodarmel was taken into custody on charges of indecent solicitation of a child, grooming, and child pornography.

Effingham City Police received a report of a possible sex offense about 9:30pm Saturday. After conducting an initial investigation, officers were able to identify a possible suspect. Officers gathered additional information and evidence that led to Rodarmel's arrest. 

Effingham City Police Chief Jason McFarland said, "I appreciate the sincere dedication of Patrol Squad B and Sergeant Joshua Douthit during this investigation. It is vital as parents to monitor and communicate with kids about the use of social media and electronic devices. This is an ongoing investigation."
