The winners of a sizable drawing by the Illinois Lottery have area ties.
Warren and Maxine Kilpatrick of Robinson won the May 21 lottery drawing, worth $6.75 million. The Kilpatricks have decided on taking a lump sum payment of $5.12 million, which they should receive by the end of July.
85-year-old Warren Kilpatrick said he's been purchasing Lottery tickets since the drawings began 35 years ago. He and his wife lived in the Gila community before moving to Robinson more than 40 years ago. He retired 19 years ago after working for an area oilfield supply company.
The Casey's General Store in Robinson where the ticket was sold will get a 1% bonus totaling $67,500.
