Details have been released on a two-vehicle crash that occurred Wednesday morning in Dieterich.

The crash happened at 11:32am at Main and Fayette Streets.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports that a vehicle driven by 65-year-old Gerald Vogt of Sigel was traveling east on Fayette Road. Deputies say Vogt was turning left in between stopped motor vehicles that were traveling south on Main Street.

As Vogt attempted to turn left, he emerged from the row of vehicles into the northbound lane of Main Street. A vehicle driven by 24-year-old John Speiser of Bourbonnais was traveling north of Main Street when the vehicle collided with Vogt's vehicle. Speiser's vehicle left the roadway to the east and came to rest in the yard beside a residence.

Deputies report Speiser was injured and was transported to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham for treatment.
