VIDEO UNDER STORY

An effort known as "More 4 Moore" is underway to provide relief to the residents of Moore, Oklahoma. More information on More 4 Moore is LOCATED HERE.

The effort is sponsored by KJ Country 102.3 and 979XFM along with Discount Eyewear, Broadway Express and Martin's IGA+.

A semi trailer is in place on the parking lot of Martin's IGA+ in downtown Effingham.  The trailer provided by Griffith Trucking and Broadway Express will be available over the next several days to give you the opportunity to give items that will help the citizens of Moore.

Hours for the collection are today until 6pm, Saturday from 8am to 4pm, Sunday from noon to 5pm, Monday from 8am to noon, and Tuesday and Wednesday from 9am to 6pm each day.

Drivers have already pledged to take the donated items directly to Moore for distribution to those in need.  The donated items will be taken to Mid America Christian University in Moore, Oklahoma.  John Fozard, former pastor of First Church of God in Effingham, is the university president.

Here are the items being sought: baby supplies, blankets and pillows, non-perishable food items, toiletries such as deodorant, shampoo, toothpaste and the like, pet food and bedding, laundry supplies, paper plates and plastic tableware, paper towels and toilet paper, Crystal Lite packages to put in bottles of water, nutrition bars, and stuffed animals.

We have received more than enough water so no more is needed.  Please do not take clothing to the trailer.

If you'd rather make cash contributions, please send those to the Effingham County Salvation Army Emergency Service Unit at 1108 South Willow in Effingham and the contributions will be forwarded on to Moore.  First Presbyterian Church Pastor Drew Holloway heads the local Salvation Army unit.  You can also bring cash contributions by our studios at Fayette and Willow between 8am and 5pm weekdays.

We've been blessed with volunteers to help with receipt of donated items during open hours at the trailer and with loading the items into the trailer.  If you'd like to help, please phone our office at 347-5518 anytime after 6am daily to find out when you're most needed.

Thanks in advance for your help!
