Effingham City Plan Commission members recommended approval of a plat of a third addition to Golden Fields Subdivision. The City Council will consider the plat for approval at their meeting Tuesday night.

The plat outlines development east of Charlotte Street, along an extension of Lilly Street, north of Oakcrest Avenue. The development will include single-family and duplex development on the west side, and three eight-unit apartment buildings on the east side.

Three public hearings were held during the meeting.

One hearing concerned language in the Zoning Ordinance regarding Intermodel Shipping Container and Semitrailer placement. Currently, there are no guidelines regarding where can be placed, or when they can be used.

Related to that was a second hearing concerning a plan by local developer Fritz Krampe to locate the containers at 806 South Vine Street for mini-warehouses.

A third hearing concerning where solar energy systems could be located in the city's extra-territorial zoning areas. A decision on the solar energy systems will be revisited at the September Plan Commission meeting.
