The Cowden-Herrick school district has been losing between $35,000 and $50,000 a year on school meals, so the Board voted Thursday to raise meal prices for the coming year.

All student meals, Grades K-12, will now cost $2.25 while all breakfasts will cost $1.25.

The Board also instituted a $30 student parking fee, $15 per semester, with revenues used to maintain the parking lots.

Board members decided to continue busing students in the Project HELP program to the learning center in Charleston, and tabled whether to create a contract with parents on transporting their students to extra-curricular events.  The district's sports boosters are working to raise enough revenue to reinstitute transportation to events by the district.

The Board approved a summer Driver's Education class, approved a two-year junior high and high school track co-op with Beecher City, and approved the list of field trips with appreciation shared with CF Industries for covering the cost of the trips.

Cowden-Herrick board members voted not to rehire Bruce Manola as varsity boys basketball coach for next season but rehired all other coaches.  Manola had coached for one season at Cowden-Herrick.  The district's junior high cheerleading coach's job is also open.
