Friday night's Effingham High School spring band concert was an opportunity for the band students to receive recognition for their performance this school year, but it was also an opportunity to salute departing Director of Bands Brad Wallace.

Wallace is leaving EHS to pursue graduate studies at the University of Illinois, which will include the chance to work with the Marching Illini.

In addition to performances by both the Concert Band and the Wind Ensemble, this year's students put together a video tribute to their years in band and to Wallace, and a group of Wallace's former students returned for the concert and joined to sing with the band "Hey Baby", long an EHS Band favorite.

Wallace's successor at EHS is yet to be chosen, but reports are that there has been much interest and many applicants for the position.
