Body Found in Area North of Alma

The Marion County Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of a man who was found in a creek off the Orchard Road a half-mile west of Route 37 north of Alma on Wednesday afternoon.

Authorities say the man has been positively identified, but are still working to notify the next-of-kin. There were no apparent signs of foul play, but the cause of death has not been determined. The body appeared to have been in the creek for some time.

The man was pronounced dead on the scene by the Marion County Coroner. An autopsy has been scheduled to try and learn more about the cause of death.

The department was notified by the property owner at 3:45 Wednesday afternoon that he had discovered the body while checking on his property.
