Township Election Results from Effingham County

Here's a recap of township races in Effingham County during Tuesday's election:
In Douglas Township, incumbent Ron Overbeck defeated challenger and former Effingham mayor John Lange for Township Supervisor, 806-579. Democrat Mary Jo Althoff won over Republican Peggy Campbell for Township Clerk, 703-645. James Ping was elected Township Assessor without opposition. Kurt Haarmann won a three-way battle for Highway Commissioner over Michael Williamson and Tim Koester, 645 to 536 to 178. The four elected as Township Trustees are Luke Doedtman with 816 votes, Nick Althoff with 688, Paul Rexroat with 686 and Art Kinkelaar with 657. The other two candidates were Donald Koester with 545 votes and Wayne Russell with 520 votes.
Here are the winners in the other Effingham County townships--
Summit Township: Supervisor Lloyd Foster, Clerk Shirley Moore, Highway Commissioner Joe Workman, Trustees Kate Dickens, Mark Workman, Stephen Davis and Ralph Vogel
West Township: Supervisor Scott Beal, Clerk Eugene Logue, Highway Commissioner Dennis Vaughn, Trustees Mark Holland, Wendell Alwardt, Michael Runge and Iris Ashbaugh
Mound Township: Supervisor Bernadine Blakely, Clerk Joan Simcox, Highway Commissioner Allen Schultz, Trustees William Laatsch, Marlin Will, Donald Zeigler and Charles Scholes
Moccasin Township: Supervisor Jeffery Wendling, Clerk Roy Wendte, Highway Commissioner Doug Hammer, Trustees Leo Stuckemeyer, Daron Stuckemeyer, Willard Kopplin and James B. Tipsword
Liberty Township: Supervisor Glen Donaldson, Clerk Melody Lilly, Highway Commissioner Shane Brandt, Trustees George Kessler, John Sloan, Sarah Randall and Betty Ann Clark

Lucas Township: Supervisor Cliff Bierman, Clerk Curtis Stortzum, Highway Commissioner Rodney Grunloh, Trustees Mike Garbe, Greg Elmore, Ronald Grunloh and Fariss Kirby
Bishop Township: Supervisor Robert Beckman, Clerk Pauletta Norris, Highway Commissioner Steven Westendorf, Trustees Larry Robards, Mark Brummer, Clara Schmidt and Douglas Kinkelaar
St. Francis Township: Supervisor Dennis Miller, Clerk Thomas Vahling, Highway Commissioner Maurus Schumacher, Trustees Joseph Thoele, Christopher Hartke, Bernard Vahling and John W. Miller
Multi-Township Assessor for Jackson, Mason, Mound and West Townships: Candice Smith
Multi-Township Assessor for Liberty and Moccasin Townships: Anthony Witteborg
Multi-Township Assessor for St. Francis and Teutopolis Townships: Mark Roedl
Also Tuesday, five people were elected to the Dieterich Park District; Rachel Meinhart, Vicki Winterrowd, Mike French, Nicholas Gipson and David Faller
Chris Huelsbusch and Dennis Carie were elected without opposition to the Effingham Park Board. Carie was re-elected; Huelsbusch will succeed Dr. Mike Sehy, who did not seek another term.
Kathy L. Hartke was elected to a seat on the Teutopolis Park Board.
Turnout in Effingham County was low; 20.84% or 4,843 of 23,243 registered voters.
