One COVID Death in County Over Weekend, 51 New Positive Cases

The Effingham County Health Department announced the COVID-related death of a county man in his 90s over the weekend. That brings the number of COVID-related deaths in the county to 48.

The Department also received notice of 51 new positive cases of Coronavirus disease from Saturday through Monday. There were 15 cases on Saturday, 23 cases on Sunday, and 13 cases on Monday.

Here's the daily breakdown:

SATURDAY--

Males--two less than 10 years old, one each in their 20s, 30s, 40s, 50s and 60s

Females--three in their 30s, three in their 40s, one in her 60s, and one in her 70s

SUNDAY--

Males--one less than 10 years old, five in their teens, one in his 20s, three in their 30s, one in his 40s, and one in his 60s

Females--one in her teens, three in their 30s, three in their 40s, one in her 50s, one in her 60s, and two in their 90s

MONDAY--

Males--one in his 20s, two in their 30s, one in his 40s, two in their 50s, and one in his 70s

Females--one in her teens, one in her 20s, two in their 30s, one in her 50s, and one in her 60s

Illinois Region 6 rolling test positivity was 9.1% through December 18, while Effingham County was 13.4% for the same period, well down from over 20% in recent days.
