Time was taken at Monday's Effingham County Board meeting to give recognition to two county sheriff's deputies.

Deputy Jeff Suckow was honored for 25 years' service to the sheriff's department. Sheriff Dave Mahon said Suckow has worked for many years as a School Resource Officer and has also been involved in the Shop w/a Deputy program. Mahon also thanked county residents for their contributions to Shop w/a Deputy. Despite the pandemic, just shy of $11,000 has been contributed this year.

Recognition was also given Deputy Rob Brown, who received a Distinguished Lifesaving Award. Mahon said that Brown aided a person who was choking by performing the Heimlich Maneuver. The sheriff said Brown's actions helped lead the woman to make a full recovery.
