Teutopolis Village Board members tabled a request from a young entrepreneur at this week’s meeting.

Teutopolis school student Nolan Schumacher asked for a change to a village ordinance so it would allow the raising of chickens. Nolan would like to keep up to six hens so he could sell their eggs.

Teutopolis Village President Greg Hess said keeping chickens in town is not currently allowed. Hess said Nolan made a good presentation to the Board.

Also this week, the Board tabled three measures related to improvements IDOT is scheduled to make to Route 40, or Main Street, through the village. Under the agreements, the village would pay for the work done on the areas used for parking, but IDOT would do all of the work while redoing the highway portion of the roadway.

The Board also paid bills on the village hall construction project, released a lot in Prairie View Subdivision, and accepted the past fiscal year audit.
