State Crop Report for Week Ending September 27

There were 6.6 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending September 27, 2020.

Statewide, the average temperature was 64.6 degrees, 3.5 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.05 inches, 0.74 inches below normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated 11 percent very short, 25 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 2 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated 9 percent very short, 27 percent short, 62 percent adequate, and 2 surplus.

Corn mature was 73 percent compared to the 5-year average of 74 percent. Corn harvested for grain was 13 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 24 percent. Corn condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 20 percent fair, 58 percent good, and 15 percent excellent.

Soybeans turning color was at 87 percent, even with the 5-year average. Soybeans dropping leaves was at 60 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 65 percent. Soybean harvest was 11 percent complete, compared to the 5-year average of 16 percent. Soybean condition was rated 2 percent very poor, 5 percent poor, 21 percent fair, 59 percent good, and 13 percent excellent.

Winter wheat planted was at 8 percent, compared to the 5-year average of 4 percent.
