Bond has been set at $1 million each for the two defendants charged in a series of alleged arson fires in the Greenup community.

21-year-old Levi Barnes of Greenup and 23-year-old Paul McCormick of Toledo are slated to make their first appearance on Thursday, March 7 on the charges being prepared in connection with more than 20 fires in and around Greenup.

Cumberland County State's Attorney Jonathan Braden said the fires date back to 2010.  Braden said his office is still receiving information on the fires in preparation for filing charges in the matter.

Barnes and McCormick are still being held in Cumberland County Detention Center in Toledo.  They are now being held on counts of residential arson and aggravated arson.  Braden said he does not believe anyone was injured in any of the fires.

Greenup police, Cumberland County sheriff's deputies, Illinois State Police and the Illinois State Fire Marshal's Office have worked together on the case.
