Effingham City Council members Tuesday reviewed a tentative budget for the fiscal year that begins May 1. All of that review was done in light of the COVID-19 pandemic, which makes revenue projections uncertain, at best.

There is funding set aside for the local share in case the Fayette Avenue reconstruction project begins. There is also funding for an economic development project possible along a proposed easterly extension of Ford Avenue.

A public hearing on the budget proposal is planned at the April 7 Council meeting, with a vote to adopt the measure planned at the April 21 meeting. That would have the budget in place when the new fiscal year begins.
