The Lake Land College Board of Trustees has approved a $5/credit hour hike in tuition for Academic Year 2021, which begins with summer term.

There were no increases in student fees.

This is the first tuition hike at Lake Land since Summer 2018.

Following a closed session, trustees approved an agreement for the voluntary resignation of Beth Gerl as vice president for student services. The resignation was effective March 6. Dr. Tina Stovall of the Lake Land staff was appointed interim vice president for student services for up to six months.

Board members also appointed division chairs including Tynia Kessler of Stewardson, who will replace the retiring Kathy Black as Business Division Chair.

The Board also announced award winners. Dr. Leland McNeill of Charleston was recognized with the Clem Phipps Exemplary Trustee Award. We will share more about the award in later newscasts.

A Pacesetter Award was presented to Danelle Jackson, a Lake Land alum who received her GED through the college. In the 10 years since, Jackson has earned her Master's Degree as a Nurse Practicioner.

The Board also honored the Illinois Asphalt Pavement Association with a Business Partnership Award for the Association's work to help Civil Engineering Technology students with scholarships. Also finalized was the recipient of this year's Full-Time Faculty Award, with the recipient to be announced at Commencement Exercises this spring.

Lake Land trustees also approved a professional engineering services agreement with Hanson Professional Services for the remodeling of Neal Hall. Also approved were bids for flooring in the West Building, for a fire tank, and for lighting at the Veterans Memorial Park.

The Board also voted to support the extension of the downtown TIF district in Charleston, with Trustee Mike Sullivan voting No.
