More Snow Headed Toward Central Illinois

People in central Illinois should brace for a second round of snow. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for McLean, Tazewell, and Woodford counties until Tuesday afternoon.

Freezing rain will develop across Central Illinois early in the morning and will become a mixture of rain and snow by the morning commute. One inch of snow is expected along the I-55 corridor, with 2-4 inches expected along the Illinois River.

Madigan Loses Appeal Over Guns

A spokesperson for state Attorney General Lisa Madigan says she has not decided whether to appeal her loss in a federal appeals court over a case that would let people carry guns in public. The Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a lower court ruling giving the state 180 days to put into place some law allowing concealed carry. Illinois is the only state in the union that does not have some form of concealed carry. Madigan urged the state legislature to continue working on a concealed carry law while she considers an appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

State Farm: Not Moving From Bloomington

State Farmr Insurance says it isn't leaving Bloomington, despite many rumors to the contrary. State Farm spokeperson Holly Anderson says the company is adding office space in Dallas, Phoenix and Atlanta, but the company's headquarters will remain in Bloomington. A spokeswoman for Senator Dick Durbin says the senator has been assured by the company that State Farm will be staying put in Bloomington.

Rockford, Chicago, Lake County On Miserable Cities List

Rockford and Chicago place third and fourth on a list of the most "miserable" cities in  America. "Forbes" magazine assembled the list and put Rockford third because of double-digit employment. Chicago placed fourth due to long commutes, falling home prices and brutal winters. Illinois placed a fourth "city" in the top ten as Lake County was ranked as the ninth most miserable. St. Louis, Mo. came in 12th.
