Lincoln Plane Crash Victims Identified

Authorities have released the identities of the three people killed in a plane crash Tuesday morning near Lincoln.

Illinois State Police said the pilot was 22-year-old Mitchell Janssen of Princeville. Janssen was killed, along with two passengers, 33-year-old Matthew Hanson of Pulaski, Wisconsin and 30-year-old Kevin Chapman of Urbana.

The plane crashed on I-55 near Lincoln shortly before 9am. The plane became fully engulfed in flames upon impact in the middle of the interstate.

The airplane had departed Central Illinois Regional Airport in Bloomington.

Normal traffic flow resumed at approximately 2:30pm.
