The Effingham Public Library Board voted Monday night to release the former library location on Market Avenue for bids.
Library Director Amanda McKay remains "cautiously optimistic" that a suitable bid will be received.
McKay said the Board set a minimum acceptable bid of $150,000 and is giving preference to those with 501 (c) status. Bids are due by 5pm February 10 in McKay's office, and will be opened at the Board's meeting that night. Board members agreed that they could accept a bid at that night's meeting.
The Board agreed early on that the proceeds from the sale of the Market Avenue location would help defray the expense of developing the current library location on 3rd Street.
