Details Released on Southern Illinois Crash; Three Killed, Eight Injured

Illinois State Police released additional information Tuesday on a Sunday crash in deep southern Illinois that resulted in three deaths and eight other people injured.
The crash involved a car and a limousine just before 3:30 Sunday morning on Illinois Route 34 in Pope County.
Police say the car crossed the center line and collided head-on with the limousine. Both drivers were killed, men from Harrisburg and from Marion, along with a man from Marion who was a passenger in the limousine.
When authorities reached the scene, the car was in flames.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene; the limousine passenger was pronounced dead at an area hospital. The eight injured limousine passengers were taken to various area hospitals for treatment.
Illinois Route 34 at the crash scene was closed for six hours for the crash investigation to be completed.
