3 Injured in Accident East of Teutopolis

Effingham County Sheriff's Office has reported on a two-vehicle accident that occurred on Route 40 at 1950th Street east of Teutopolis at 12:20 Sunday afternoon.

Brittany Bannick, 28 of Effingham, was driving a Ford Edge southbound on 1950th Street and failed to stop at the intersection with Route 40 and was hit on the side by a Jeep driven by Courtney Dalton, 28 of Effingham. Bannick's vehicle left the roadway to the right and came to rest in the field.

Dalton and was injured and taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. A 5-year-old passenger in Dalton's vehicle was taken to St. John's Hospital in Springfield. Bannick was also injured and was transported to Carle Hospital in Champaign.

Bannick was cited for Operating an uninsured vehicle, failure to reduce speed/accident, and Disobeying stop sign. While Dalton was cited for Operating an uninsured vehicle and failure to secure a child.
