St. Elmo school board members Monday heard that things are still uncertain at the State level regarding a new Math curriculum at the high school.
High School Principal Brian Garrard reported that the junior-senior high Math department attended a Math conference at Eastern Illinois University. One of the presenters reported that the State has yet to give clear guidance on their expectations regarding a new Math curriculum at the high school level, and that the only Math changes for next year will be at the junior high level.
Grade school principal Sean Hannagan reported that the 6th grader with the highest GPA will present the flag at the Memorial Day Veterans Memorial. The students with the next two highest GPAs will also be participating. The elementary Student Council purchased the flag.
St. Elmo Superintendent Deb Philpot reported on the staff luncheon where retirees Connie Hough and Barb Stewart were honored. Philpot reported that all building administrators and she would be completing 40 hours of state-mandated teacher evaluation training this summer, and that she would also be required to obtain an additional 20 hours of training on conducting administrator evaluations.
The Board adopted a tentative amended budget for the current school year; approved amendments to the administrator contracts; and approved Tom Fedrigon's resignation as both head high school softball coach and assistant junior high softball coach.
