St. Elmo Man Injured in Friday Crash

54-year-old Darel Rhodes was traveling eastbound on US Route 40 in Summit Township, a short distance west of 1075th Street near the "S" curves west of Effingham, when the crash occurred at 10:38am. 

Effingham County sheriff's deputies report Rhodes lost control of his cycle, traveled off the north side of the highway and overturned. The bike ended up in a ditch.

Rhodes was taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Rhodes was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash and improper lane usage.
