The Clay County Board Tuesday voted to combine several polling places. The reason? Low voter turnout.

The Board voted to combine Larkinsburg I and II precincts, Harter I and II precincts, Clay City I and II precincts, and Pixley I and II precincts. Larkinsburg Township voters will now cast a ballot at Calvary Apostolic Church in Iola, Harter Township voters will vote at Christ's Church in Flora, Clay City precinct voters will cast a ballot at their community center in the park, and Pixley Township voters will vote at the Ingraham Community Center.

Also Tuesday, Clay County Sheriff Andy Myers reported he is seeking grant funds toward the purchase of a squad car. No comments were heard during a public hearing ahead of last night's meeting on the grant request.

The Board voted to add a Clay County Crimestoppers Fund to the Circuit Clerk's budget to help finance the Crimestoppers program. Also approved was the appointment of Jane Janes, Joel Hackney and Randy Wells to three-year terms on the Clay County Board of Health.
