State Crop Report for Week Ending June 9

There were 4.5 days suitable for fieldwork statewide in Illinois during the week ending June 9.

Statewide, the average temperature was 71.8 degrees, 2.6 degrees above normal. Precipitation averaged 0.77 inches, 0.13 inches below normal.

Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 4% short, 54% adequate, and 42% surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 2% short, 50% adequate, and 48% surplus. 

Corn planted took a huge leap forward, to 73%, compared to 100% for both last year and the five-year average. Corn emerged was at 51%. Corn condition was 3% very poor, 9% poor, 41% fair, 42% good, and 5% excellent. 

Soybeans planted was at 49%, compared to 96% last year and the five-year average of 91%. Soybeans emerged was at 25%.

Winter wheat headed reached 93%, compared to 100% last year and the five-year average of 98%. Winter wheat condition was rated at 8% very poor, 19% poor, 43% fair, 28% good, and 2% excellent.
